Juniors - 11am start

Arnaud Jouffroy from France won the Junior race after working his way up to the lead group of Peter Sagan (Slovakia) and Lubomir Petrus (Czech Republic). The last lap had Jouffroy ahead to start, while the other two caught him through the back half when he was caught behind a lapped rider, but he caught them immediate
ly and attacked again hard, pulling away again for the win.

2008 Treviso Cyclo-cross Worlds Preview

As of Wednesday night, the Canadian team has all arrived and are staying in Treviso, Italy to begin final preparations for the '07/08 Cyclo-cross World Championships. The riders who have been here since the beginning of the week have seen the course take shape and Thursday had the entire course fenced off and most teams were seen checking out the course.

Kyle Douglas - Living the Dream

CXO chased down Kyle Douglas in France and followed him around Belgium and over to the Netherlands. Since moving to 'cross, Kyle has won last year's Nationals, and centered his season around racing Worlds in Treviso.

Denise Ramsden, the fastest junior female

Four years since the last time the Ontario Cyclocross Championships were on the snow and 165 of Ontario's best racers came back to the same place in Albion Hills to brave the weather conditions once again. Despite the snowfall on Thursday, Chico Racing , the best race organizer in Canada, did an amazing job in prepping the course for the biggest provincial CX event.

For the premier event, the Elite Men's race, the course was worked in by all of the early races and the sun that thawed most of the snow and turned the surface into a slick and muddy concoction, adding an extra element to the already difficult conditions. Except for Greg Reain and Osmond Bakker the field was the strongest that the Ontario cross scene can produce. From the National Champion Mike Garrigan, mountain bike powerhouse Andrew Watson, a rejuvenated Nathan Chown, the beast from the east - Aaron Fillion, GTA's cross legend Peter Morse, young guns Kyle Douglas and Ian Manning, 2007's most improved rider Eric Box and many more.

Centennial Park UCI Pro/Am

What happens when two of Toronto’s most successful race promoters get together to put on a race? The biggest weekend of 'Cross to ever take place in Ontario. With deeper and more competitive races, fielding racers from across Canada and the US, spectators were treated to an exciting event. And while temperatures were falling they put on an extra coat, sipped a pint of ale from Toronto’s Amsterdam Brewery, munched on food served up on site and rang those cowbells like they’ve never done before.

Barrie Sunnidale Cross

Presented by the Barrie Cycling Club, another great new circuit at Sunnidale Park in Barrie was brought to us to start off November.

Pulling into the parking lot, it was impressive to see miles of tape, making up a UCI compliant course, stretched out around the park. It was immediately evident by the looks of suffering on the faces of the 10:00 race that it would be a tough day of racing. With a long starting straightaway, there was plenty of time to sort things out before the first technical section - a rollercoaster through the trees.

CXO: Last we talked, you were finishing off last year by heading to Europe
to attend Worlds and some other World Cup races. Apparently the experience
has paid off. Congrats on the win - so tell us what you've been up to over
the summer to get you here? Did you get lots of that endurance training you
told us you were going to do, or what?
MG:Hey! Yeah the summer went really well, for sure I managed to fit in more riding this spring. As the MTB season was just getting rolling, I would clump long endurance rides around the early O-cups to build some base, minor injuries where keeping me off of the bike in March so I was playing catch up, it worked out in the end.

Garrigan New National Champion

Mike Garrigan (Jetpower/Epic) is the new National Cyclocross Champion! He won ahead of the defending champion Greg Reain. In women's category Wendy Simms defeated Alison Sydor and Lynne Bessette.
Mark Batty is the new U23 National Champion, finishing ahead of Kyle Douglas, the defending champion.
