$7 Cyclocross entry fees in New Jersey

Can’t wait for cyclocross?  SpectaSport
is offering $7 entry fees in its “Seven for Seven” promotion for the
New Jersey State Fair SpectaCross July 31-August 1.  A
limited number of $7 entries are being offered (before registration
even opens) to racers who reside seven or more hours away from the Fair.  “If
you carpool and share the driving,” says SpectaSport Founder and race
promoter Ken Getchell, this offer will save you enough money to pay for
most, if not all, of your gas for the round-trip to the State Fair.”

The
New Jersey State Fair SpectaCross is the only bike race in North
America that is actually an official and featured part of a State Fair!  The
New Jersey State Fair / Sussex County Farm and Horse Show draws nearly
a quarter million visitors annually and is one of the oldest and
richest equestrian competitions in America.  But on the opening weekend of this year’s fair, the special competitive entertainment will be CYCLOCROSS!  The
short, technical course will feature a run-up over the top of a car in
honor of the monster truck shows and demolition derbies that will be
held in the same arena later on in the week.  And fireworks following
the Friday night races!

Here’s the deal:

  • You must live at least seven hours away from Augusta NJ 07822 according to Google Maps default directions
  • First come, first served.  There are only a limited number of these promotional entries
  • You may purchase more than one entry at $7 each, provided they are still available.
  • You may also use the $7 entry to compete in the MTB Speed Trials held adjacent to the cyclocross.  Speed Trials is part observed trials, part trail riding on a timed obstacle course that gets more difficult each round.
  • Tell us which classes you want to enter (see http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=7612 for schedule, (additional events may be added).  You will also find links for lodging on the BikeReg flyer.  ** Note:  The $7 entries are not available through BikeReg.com.  You must email KenG@SpectaSport.com to obtain the $7 entry fees.
  • A timing-chip rental fee MAY be added to the entry fee. 
  • Give us some interesting info on yourself (“I was the state Road Race Champion in 1941 and I groom dogs for a living”)
  • Tell
    us if you’re planning on bringing non-racing family/friends (we’re
    finalizing details on discount fair admissions for them).  Your $7 entry automatically gets you admission to the fair (an $11 value!)
  • We
    are doing this for promotional purposes, so you should feel incredibly
    guilty if you take advantage of this offer without telling lots of people that you’re competing in the “New Jersey State Fair SpectaCross”.
