Fork chatter solution...

For all who have struggled with carbon fork chatter while braking when using a headset mounted cable hanger. Wanted to report that a fork mounted cable hanger really does work. IMG_2202 IMG_2204 It's a Specialized Tricross fork hanger and it should fit most carbon forks as long as they have at least a fender mount hole at the crown. To avoid unwrapping the bars, use an in-line cable adjuster to link the two pieces of housing together. $30 in parts and 30 minutes to install.

No doubt that works, and for

No doubt that works, and for those with drilled forks it's a great solution.

For others who may be in the market for a new fork anyway, I have found that the Alpha Q CX20 doesn't chatter at all and would recommend it over any that I've tried (EC90X, Ritchey WCS). My brakes are silent this year and I am very happy about that.

I've recently noticed that

I've recently noticed that the front wheel also can make a difference. Dependent upon how the spoke pattern is laid, this too can help avoid or reduce chatter. Noteably radial laced wheels tend to cause my EC90X fork to chatter where as cross laced spoked wheels do not chatter at all.

machined vs. anodized rims

machined vs. anodized rims will make a difference too. The increased friction on the machined surface initiates chatter sooner resulting in a decreased ability to modulate the front brake. Not sure what happens when the anodizing wears off....they're still new wheels

This might be sound familiar

This might be sound familiar to some of you from the old skool MTB days, however another tip would be to propperly toe in the brakes (1-2 mm) and sometimes it also helps to give the pads a quick buff with some sand paper to "de-glaze" them.

Yes it works but, in a wet

Yes it works but, in a wet race, my toe-in is worn away after 30 minutes.
