I was checkin' out BT before I left for work at 7:55. Great job! I wish I coulda' made it. Everyone looked good on the barrier reps. Leave it up to Rick! Right on que! Wipe out! Ya made it look like even more fun! See ya on Saturday.
Good for CX?
Maybe (no such thing as bad press, right?), but that was a brutal segment. They send the sidewalk weather wench who isn't even sure what the sport is called. No fault of organizing team, but truly a lame piece of tv by BT.

I think they did a good job of making CX look like an inviting sport for new participants, which I think was the whole point. Except for the guys and girls racing Elite and the top end of M1, we're no different than people who play house league hockey - it's a hobby.
If we take ourselves too seriously we come off like the guy who spends all weekend wearing his Big Bertha hat, Oakleys, Nike shirt and dockers while he does his imaginary 300 yard drive...we all know that guy's a poser who needs a little more variety in his life.
I know I'm running with something you didn't really say, so I'll repeat: they did a good job of making CX look like an inviting sport for new participants - and Shannon did a great job of selling - she needs a beer hand up on Saturday!
True. I suppose getting the kids to school should have been 2nd piority to doing 300m loops for the camera. I have no right right to evaluate the segment on BT.
CITY did a good job last year reporting at Provincials in Riverdale. But today, one camera location and and banter about cel phones doesn't make the event seem like a "must see." Not dissing the sport, just slagging BT.

Where were the "pros"...?
Someone graciously pointed out that the turnout was incredibly disappointing. Where should we point the fingers...well, I'll tell you where, the "pros", or those who are attempting to make a living doing this and constantly complain that there's no sponsorship interest, or money. Here was a fantastic opportunity to be on television and add to your "resume" that you were on BT, which is viewed by nearly 3 million people, putting yourself/sponsors in the limelight.
So, for all those who question why there is little monetary support when you want to go to Nationals, or Europe, you missed a great "event".
p.s. no, I'm not one of those "pros". I work full-time, always have, pay for all of my bikes/fees and have no illusions about having "sponsors" pay my way.
I have to send out a big thanks to Craig,Scott,Rick and Midweek for their work for this weekend's races.I went to help today and was surprised at how much work it really is.After Rick asked for help in an earlier post I couldn't believe that maybe 5 or 6 people showed.Where was the help?I saw a lot of people pre riding most of the day but not one person offered any help.I guess if events like this are no longer held here we will all know why.
If I am still alive and standing after another trip to the pain cave, I'll be hanging out to help.
Hopefully there will be some caffeine and carbs involved.
See ya soon!

Next time there is spot on Breakfast TV, IMO, they really need to arrange to cut to some intense race footage from past years events if at all possible. It's cool to see CX in the spotlight, but I don't think anyone is really going to get a sense of how awesome of a spectator sport it really is with a few riders continuously jumping barriers in the background (no matter how big the turn out). Show some pros getting annihilated by off-camber slippery turns, covered in mud, or getting their front wheels eaten alive by last years "creek crossing" and I think you may get more interest.
Having just come back from watching the race at the Citadelle in Namur, Belgium, we have a lot to work on in terms of drawing crowds and coverage, but its awesome to see some mainstream media coverage of the sport, I just don't think it is presented as well as it could have been.
