C.S.A.J. Riverdale Cross

Hey everyone. Just thought I would post up and let everyone know some details on the Riverdale Cross on Nov 22. We have been very busy making plans for the race and it looks like it is going to be a great one.

Pre-Reg should be up by Monday for anyone who cares to do so. Cost will be the same regardless of whether pre-reg or day of....$30 over 19....$20 under 19.

We have tons of good stuff for prizes from Cycle Solutions, Kona, Orange Sport, Giro, Bicitech, BONT, Poka and Great Lakes Brewery. Cash pay-outs will be for under19 and Elite riders only(sorry Masters but you will get your moneys worth) As well we will have lots of draw prizes including a Cross frame and wheelset from Cycle Solutions and paint job courtesy of Noah at Velocolour. All podiums will also receive custom trophies.

We also have lots of interesting things in store as far as the course. There will be some elements from last year, but we have changed the course around to make it even better albeit slightly shorter in length. It will be a full UCI course (3m wide throughout, double pit, multiple dismounts,high-speed double barricades etc) We are going to be shameless idea stealers and take some things from other organizers play-book this year such as Durham Cross' beer case on course giveaway. We also have secured an engineered scaffold stair run-up, bridge over course and ramp down the other side courtesy of Russ Dillworth Scaffolding. This element has been custom designed for us by Russ Dillworth and promises to be an exciting and challenging addition to this years course. Timing will be supplied by "Accurate Al" Hawley. P.A. and announcing duties will be provided by Chico Racing.

There will be free coffee courtesy of Jet-Fuel Coffeeshop as well as hot mulled apple cider for all participants. We decided to forgo the beer tent this year as the cost of permits and paying an off duty cop all day didn't really seem worth it. There will be free plastic cups for everyone tho ;)

Our club has spent countless hours preparing for this event and promise it will be a race to remember. As a not-for-profit club any profits generated from the event will go back into C.S.A.J. Racing's Youth Programs. We are in this for the love of the sport and countless hours of time donated by our club members are put in for this love....not to make a quick buck. Hope to see you all out on the 22nd and if you have any other questions, concerns etc, feel free to contact me directly at canucksoncoppis@hotmail.com.

Can't wait!

Make sure that scaffolding won't buckle under us 200 pounders!

been looking forward to this race all season! ... the burning question however - will there be a live polka band?

The scaffold will handle

The scaffold will handle 5000+ lbs. The whole rig weighs just under 5000. It even has an engineer's stamp of approval! Another thing I wanted to mention/suggest. We want to do a special trophy for the Most Improved Rider. I thought we could accept votes from anyone who shows up on race day. Is this premature as the season has 1 more race or is this agreeable? Everyone gets 1 vote...we will count em 30 minutes into the last race start. We will also have one for Single speed....fastest lap. P.S. Pardon the original one paragraph rant but the forum doesn't want to acknowledge my punctuation breaks.

Hey Rod/Darko, any way we can make that the default?

Have you guys run over the

Have you guys run over the scaffold in bike shoes while the stairs are wet? I only ask this as the wooden steps @ Willow got pretty sketchy as the race went on when they became wet.

I think we need Brianai to use her spreadsheet skills to determine the most improved rider.

The entire riding surface

The entire riding surface will be covered with outdoor carpet to avoid the slippyness of wood. The UCI states that they must be covered.
