I remembered how much pain I suffered in the first couple of races (mtb) in the spring last year and decided to put down the beer and go riding last weekend. It wasn't so bad because the weather was so warm. If you don't mind the wet. I think that the beer will be a stronger voice when the temperature gets to about -15. For now the bike is winning the tug of war. Oh, also, I finally caught up to all the domestic things I have ignored for the last three months. Everything is good.
Yes the road. The temperatures have to go below zero for a while to make off roading practical. A lot of people really like Hilton Falls for winter riding. Some parts of Durham forest (three rocks) is rideable because it is mostly sand.
The Donut Ride goes all winter. Last Sunday we had about 30 riders. Some of us even went long over to Weston Road and up to Ketelby. Make sure to bring your fenders though!
Somehow I've never made it out to the donut. I've been meaning to for a long time, but somehow never get around to it. Maybe I'll join you guys sometime soon.
I decided to try out the Cyclo-Core / Cyclo-Zen DVDs this Winter. They've been pretty good so far and I know that my core could definitely use some work! This will be my first full season of mtb racing in over 10 years, so I'm pretty excited to get back into it. Yesterday was 3 months before the first race I plan on doing: the icebreaker. Then Paris-Ancaster the following weekend and an O-Cup xc race the weekend after that.
